Day 3 of the Siege

It’s the third day after Izzy’s return from the vet, and she and Munky are still living in separate rooms. She’s recovering nicely from her accident, though she’s removed every bandage I’ve attempted and I’ve now just given up on that. She’s happy, loving, and even a little sweeter than normal. In short, she’s a perfect little angel. Murphy, on the other hand, is happy and sweet when he’s on his side of the house, but the moment the door opens, he gets a bottle brush tail, starts yowling at the top of his lungs, and lunges out of the room in search of his ‘prey.’ I’ve given them both a bath, rub both of them down with my t-shirt a couple of times a day, and now Murph is even wearing a collar that’s supposed to be highly calming. Nothing has helped, and in fact, his reaction to her scent has only intensified to the point where I’m afraid he’d maim her if I let him out of his side of the house again. Looks like we’re in this for the long haul.

On Monday Isabel needs to go back to the doctor for a check up. I’ve decided to take both of them along, so that they both end up smelling like the vet. If that doesn’t work, I’m not sure what to do. We have house guests coming in next Saturday, so this can’t continue. Hopefully the vet will have some ideas that I haven’t been able to find on line yet.

Any of you cat people have any other solutions? I’m all ears.
