Today’s Weight: 157.4 lbs.

Exercise: I just got through doing an intense 45 minute Zumba toning workout, which is basically dancing really fast while using light hand weights. It looks easy, but by the time I finish up with that video I’m always panting and coated with sweat. Later on this afternoon I’m going to go for my 3 mile run, as well.

Food: So far I’ve had the almond milk yogurt and blueberries combo that I had yesterday, plus a lovely Gala apple, cut up and served with a spoonful of peanut butter. I’m going to have soup, eggs and toast in a little bit, too.

I painted my toenails with that new Sally Hansen Gem nail polish I posted about yesterday. It looks really nice on, just as good as it did in the bottle. The only thing is that it takes 3 or 4 coats to get it as crazy sparkly as it looks in photos. Luckily, that’s not too hard, since the polish dries really quickly. Last night I pulled out my seldom used foot spa and gave myself a decent pedicure, complete with taking a pumice stone to all of the rough spots, and clipping cuticles and bits of unattractive skin. My toes look gorgeous. Now I’ve got to do my fingernails tonight to match, if I have time between work, run, more work, homework and band practice. Maybe I’ll try to fix them up late night after I get home from practice…

Update: I ran 2.4 miles tonight, and ate a sensible dinner of homemade fish tacos (mmm). Band practice was cancelled, so now I’m just chillin’ on the couch with my sweetie. Catch you tomorrow!

I’m Nova

I have no “personal brand.” I’m not a girl boss, I’m not an influencer, and I don’t aspire to be powerful, inspiring, or rich. I probably can’t teach you anything, and there’s a good chance that there’s nothing at all of interest or use to you here. This is just where I come to talk about the random bits and pieces that make up my quiet life as a sober woman in her 40s. I’m engaged to the love of my life, have six (yes, SIX) indoor pets, and spend a lot of time gardening and hunting for thrift treasures. I also study classical voice (I’m a lyric coloratura soprano) and am deeply interested in all things spiritual and paranormal. Right now I’m trying to recover from career burnout and even out my personal energy, but my eventual goal is to become a medium and shamanic healer, using music to remind humans of the things that actually matter: connection, community, and loving all living things as though they were our own children. I may or may not talk about all of these things here (and sometimes all at once). Welcome!
