I have no idea how to pronounce “dodecahedron,” but I made one! This project was difficult – it took me almost two hours to complete. It’s still not perfect; I’ll count this as my model, now that I know what I need to do to make this thing look a little more uniform than it looks right now. Don’t get me wrong – I’m ridiculously psyched that I managed to build this crazy 3-D model all by myself on the first try. However, now that I’ve done it, I see where I could make improvements, and I definitely want to try again. I can only imagine how gorgeous this would be if I’d used translucent plastic sheets, or even metallic sheets. To make this I cut 6″ x 6″ sheets into quarters, and it turned out to be a pretty large model, a little bit bigger than a softball. At a much smaller scale, something like this would make a gorgeous Christmas ornament, too. If you’re interested in trying this pattern, here’s a diagram.
